وكان جميع سكان أورشليم من أبناء وأحفاد الذين حضروا أحداث الصلب يوم الجمعة العظيمة يعرفون القبر المقدس ويقصدونه للتبرك منه، لذا قررالإمبراطور هادريان سنة 135ميلادية إخفاء المكان فأمر بردمه، وتغطيته بالتراب والحجارة وبنى فوق الجلجثة والقبر المقدس هيكلين وثنيين ونصب فوقهما تمثالي المشترى”جوبيتر” والزهرة “فينوس” أشهر آلهتهم الوثنية وذلك لمنع المسيحين في العصور الاولى من التعبد في مكان الصلب و القبر.
ومع أن الكنيسة الحالية تقع داخل اسوار البلدة القديمة إلا أن هذه الاسوار تعود الى القرن السادس عشر والذي بناها هو السلطان سليمان القانوني، بينما السور القديم الذي كان موجود في القرن الأول المسيحي تم هدمه بالكامل على يد تيطس عام 70م. لكن عندما بنى هدريان مدينة إيليا كابيتولينا بنى ايضا سور للمدينة على انقاض السور الذي كان في زمن المسيح. والمذهل أنه يوجد الى يومنا هذا اثار هذا السور في كنيسة القديس الكسندر نفنسكي الروسية والتي تقع خارج كنيسة القيامة وبذلك يكون موقع الصلب وقبر يسوع المسيح هما خارج اسوار اورشليم في القرن الأول.
في سنة 326 م أمرت الملكة هيلانة والدة الإمبراطور قسطنطين بهدم المعبد الوثني بناء على وصية الأسقف مكاريوس وبهذا أعادت الأماكن المقدسة إلى حالتها الأصلية ثم شرعت في بناء كنيسة القيامة الامر الذي استغرق عشرة سنوات ، وكانت تتالف من مكانين اساسين هما “المرتيريوم” مكان الصلب و”الانستاسيس” مكان القيامة. و حفرت الملكة هيلانة الصخر المحيط بالقبر المقدس لابرازه و بناء الرواق المستدير المعروف بالروتندا.
وكانت الكنيسة مرة ونصف أكبر من الكنيسة الحالية واستغرق البناء عشرة اعوام، دشنت الكنيسة في 13 يوليو سنة 335م. بحضور البابا أثناسيوس الرسولي بابا الإسكندرية. وتم اعطاء الاقباط مذبح يقع على راس القبر المقدس كما ترون في الصور. وأيضا كان هناك لفيف من أساقفة العالم حاضرون. وفي سنة 614 م ، هدم الفرس الكنيسة و أحرقوها، و أحرقوا معها جميع الكنائس والأديرة التي كانت يومئذ في الأرض المقدسة كلها. فأعاد بناؤها، رئيس الدير موديستو سنة 636م ، ولكن بشكل مصغر.
وفي عام 637م أعطى الخليفة عمر بن الخطاب البطريرك صفرونيوس عهد أمان له وللمسيحيين يسمى ” العهده العمرية” . ولقد رمم البناء الذي أقامه موديستو البطريرك توما الأول سنة 817 م ، وكان ذلك في عهد الخليفة العباسي المأمون ، وأُحرقت الكنيسة وسقطت قبتها في عهد الأخشيد سلطان مصر سنة 965م.
وجرت بعد ذلك محاولات كثيرة لبناء القبة من جديد، إلا أن تلك المحاولات إنتهت بالفشل ، ولكنهم عادوا فعمروها في زمن البطريرك يوسف الثاني سنة 980م. وأمر الخليفة الفاطمي الحاكم بأمر الله بهدمها، فهدمت سنة 1009م وهدم معها الكنائس الملاصقة لها. ولكنه عاد فأجاز للمسيحيين أن يعيدوا البناء من جديد، فشيدوا يومئذ كنيسة القبر المقدس. فقد شيدوها على غير شكلها الأصلي وحال فقرهم دون إتمام الباقي.
وسمح الخليفة الفاطمي المستنصر بالله سنة 1035م للمسيحيين ببناء الكنيسة من جديد فشرعوا في بنائها ، وتم البناء الجديد في عهد الإمبراطور قسطنطين مونوماكو، وبنى حينها قبة القيامة Anastasis التي إستعادت عظمتها القديمة أما الأماكن المقدسة الأخرى بداخل الكنيسة فقد أُشير إليها بهياكل صغيرة.
وفي الفترة الصليبة سنة 1099م وجه الصليبيين إهتمامهم إلى تعمير الكنيسة ، ولقد حافظوا على ما كان فيها من مبانٍغير أنهم جمعوا جميع الهياكل الصغيرة في كنيسة واحدة . وبنوا شرقي القبر المقدس كنيسة هي التي عرفت بعدئذ بكنيسة “نصف الدنيا” وبنوا برج للأجراسوفي القرن السادس عشر ، أي بعدما عقدت فرنسا مع تركيا معاهدة الإِمتيازات الأولي سنة 1535م، سمح للاباء اللاتين بعمل ترميمات بالكنيسة وفي أواخر القرن السابع عشر كانت قبة القيامة Anastasia في حالة غير مرضية الى ان تم ترميمها في سنة 1719م. وكان أهم الحوداث ما جرى لكنيسة القيامة فى سنة 1808 م، حيث يذكر المؤرخون أنه فى 12 أكتوبر سنة 1808 م إندلعت النيران من كنيسة الأرمن الأرثوذكس وهي بداخل كنيسة القيامة وإمتد اللهب إلى أنحاء الكنيسة كلها فسقطت القبة وتضررت الأعمدة والأرضية الرخامية ولم يسلم من الحريق سوى جانب صغير من الجلجثة ومغارة الصليب وكنيسة اللاتين.
ويذكر هنا أن البناء الحجري المشيد على القبر المقدس هو بناء يعود الى فترة ما بعد الحريق حيث كان يوجد مكانه بناء خشبي او مقصورة خشبية احرقت وشيدت هذه المقصورة الحجرية التي ترونها فوق القبر خلال اعمال الترميم. وأسفل هذه المقصورة الحجرية بنصف متر تقريبا يقع القبر وبنيت فوقه لحمايته. وهي مكونة من حجرتين: غرفة الملاك الحجرة الخارجية و المضجع السيدي المكان الذي اجثي فيه جثمان يسوع المسيح داخل القبر. و الحجر الذي اجثي عليه الجثمان يقع نصف متر تقريبا تحت المضجع السيدي.
وفي سنة 1809م حصل الروم الأرثوذكس على فرمان من السلطان محمود الثاني بترميم كنيسة القيامة ، وتمكنوا من القيام بأعمال الإصلاح وجددوا البناء الذي يعلو القبر المقدس ووضعوا حجر مغتسل جديد وصنعوا أبواباً جديدة للمدخل الرئيسي. وبعد ذلك سمح السلطان محمود الثاني لطائفة اللاتين ببناء غرف جديدة في ديرهم وتعمير ما يخصهم بداخل كنيسة القيامة.
وفي عام 1834م حصل الروم على فرمان جديد من محمد علي باشا بتعمير قبة القبر المقدس والقبة العليا . كانت نتيجة قيام الروم وحدهم بتعمير الكنيسة بعد حريق عام 1808 م ، ثم تضررت كنيسة القيامة مرة أخرى إثر هزة أرضية ضربت القدس سنة 1927م فقامت حكومة الإنتداب البريطاني بعمل بعض الإصلاحات ما بين سنة 1930 حتى سنة 1933مويقوم على حراسة أبواب كنيسة القيامة عائلتان مسلمتين هما: عائلة آل جودة وعائلة آل نسيبه. وقد أُتفق على أن آل جودة هم الذين يحتفظون بمفاتيح الكنيسة ، وأن آل نسيبه هم الذين يفتحون الكنيسة فى مواعيدها المقررة ،ومتى فتح هؤلاء الباب أعادوا المفاتيح إلى أولئك ، وهكذا دواليك، وتقول بعض المصادر التاريخية أن هذه الوظيفة بأيديهم منذ أن سلّم بطريرك الروم الأرثوذكس صفرونيوس مفاتيح كنيسة القيامة إلى الخليفة عمر بن الخطاب سنة 637م ومصادر أخرى تقول إن هذه الوظيفة أُوكلت إليهم منذ عهد صلاح الدين الأيوبي.
ويعمل بكنيسة القيامة بنظام “الستاسيكو” وهو نظام عثماني اضاف اليه الانتداب البريطاني وذلك لحفظ حقوق كل طائفة داخل الكنيسة. وينص هذا النظام على ان الوضع القائم منذ الفترة العثمانية من حقوق و اماكن لا يتغير ويبقى على ما هو عليه. حيث تتشارك خمس كنائس مختلفة الكنيسة وتتقاسمها المكان والزمان في حقوق اماكن واوقات الصلاة في الاماكن المشتركة مثل القبر المقدس و الجلجثة و حجر الطيب.
ويوجد وجود مستمر للرهبان داخل الكنيسة لكل من الروم الارثوذكس واللاتين الكاثوليك والارمن الارثوذكس والاقباط الارثوذكس، حيث يوجد لكل من هذه الكنائس غرف مبيت و غرف تستخدم كمخازن داخل الكنيسة.
وهناك خمس طوائف لها حقوق في كنيسة القيامة هي : الروم الأرثوذكس- الآباءالفرنسيسكان ( اللاتين ) – الأرمن الأرثوذكس -الأقباط الأرثوذكس -السريان الأرثوذكس . و نحن ككنيسة قبطية أرثوذكسية نمتلك كنيسة مبنية على رأس القبر المقدس، بداخل كنيسة القيامة , ولنا حقوق الصلاة فيها سواء صلوات العشية أو القداسات كما نمتلك موقعين بهما غرف متعددة ، لمبيت الآباء الرهبان بها. ولنا حقوق اثناء الاعياد بصلاة اوشية الانجيل في القبر المقدس و على الجلجثة وعلى المغتسل.
